Tonight is night 3 of the Democratic National Convention in Chicago, and if nights 1 and 2 were any indication, there’s a lot to look forward to tonight! Tonight, everyone’s favorite Midwest Prince — and our future Vice President — Tim Walz takes the stage, all leading up to VP Harris’ much-anticipated speech Thursday during the closing night!
To the Swifties who are just joining us, we know that political volunteering can seem intimidating, especially if it’s something you have never done before. We want to re-emphasize that there truly is a volunteer opportunity for every personality type and comfort level!

Welcome to another jam-packed week for the Harris campaign! This past Friday in Raleigh, North Carolina, Kamala Harris unveiled an ambitious economic plan (see the Baby, I Could Build a Castle section below for more). Harris and Walz spent the rest of the weekend campaigning in western Pennsylvania.
Monday kicked off the DNC in Chicago, Illinois. Monday’s speakers included former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Golden State Warriors coach Stephen Kerr, and President Joe Biden. Kamala Harris herself even made a surprise appearance!
Don’t forget to tune in: Kamala Harris will give her official address to the convention on Thursday evening. You can find some more information about who’s speaking at the DNC and when here.
Project 2025 and its creators make it clear that LGBTQ+ individuals will not be represented if Donald Trump is elected. Throughout the document, mentions of LGBTQ+ issues are conflated with pornography or a “bully agenda.” Voting against these policies is the only way to protect our rights.
LGBTQ+ individuals take a massive hit in this document, from undermining the legitimacy of non-heterosexual families by repealing agendas that uplift and support them (pg. 451), barring people who are transgender from serving in the military (pg. 104), and encouraging the Department of Health and Human Services to remove all support and recommendations for gender-affirming care (pg. 491). They also want to eliminate any language about gender or sexual orientation from every official government document (pgs. 4-5).
As Vice President Kamala Harris says, “We will not go back!” So educate people around you about Project 2025 and get to the polls this election season to protect you and your loved ones from these restrictive and cruel proposals.
We’ve got bills to pay, and thankfully Kamala Harris has it figured out.
Last Friday, VP Harris gave her first major policy speech to lay out her economic vision. “As president, I will be laser-focused on creating opportunities for the middle class that advance their economic security, stability, and dignity,” she said. Her plan consists of three key pillars: fighting inflation, recalibrating the housing market, and cutting taxes for families.
Proposals within her plan include:
Tax relief for families with up to $6,000 for parents of newborns and restoring the expanded Child Tax Credit with up to $3,600 per child
Stronger penalties for price-gouging on items like groceries, gas, and other essentials
A $25,000 subsidy for first-time homebuyers to use toward a down payment
Keep an eye on the DNC this week for potentially more policy news (or stay tuned for a brief, special-edition recap from us coming to your inbox on Friday!)
Michigan residents! Don’t make this look like a contest of who can act like they care less, or the story of the House and Senate will look like a tragedy come November!
Cook Political Report’s Senate and House Race Ratings have identified multiple seats in Michigan that are at risk of flipping red this election season.

And that’s not all — our very own Swifties for Kamala call is less than a week away! Join us on Tuesday, Aug. 27 at 7 pm ET to kick off the organizing efforts of our coalition committed to elect Vice President Kamala Harris as our next president. We will have some special guest speakers (not Taylor herself at the moment, but she’s always welcome to show up at our party.) and information on how to directly get involved with volunteering for the Harris-Walz campaign!
Elissa Slotkin will be speaking at the DNC Thursday night! Tune in! 💙
Love the newsletter ... well written and organized.
I have given to the DNC before, but would like to make any further donations through a S4K link, to show support for DNC/Harris and S4K.
However, while there are other links for some local race donations, there doesn't seem to be a DNC donation link.
Keep up the great work!
