This week, we’re highlighting volunteer opportunities that focus on three key states in this election: Arizona, Florida, and North Carolina. No matter where you live, you can sign up to either phone bank or text bank — by talking and texting with voters in these key states, you can help them register and get ready to vote blue on Nov. 5, 2024!
You know I love a(n)…Arizona phone bank! Sign up to phone bank with Arizona Dems this week. There are time slots available on Wednesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sunday, so there are plenty of options! Organizers will provide training and support while you start making calls.
Florida!!! Sign up to send texts to Florida voters with VoteRiders on Thursday, Aug. 15 from 7 - 8pm ET. All text bank sessions start with a quick training.
Oh, Carolina! Sign up for a virtual phone bank with North Carolina Dems. There are three weekly time slots available: Wednesdays from 2 - 4 pm ET and Thursdays from 1- 3 pm ET and 3 - 5 pm ET. A brief training will be provided at the beginning of each shift.
It’s been a busy week for Miss Americana and her non-Heartbreak Prince! Kamala Harris and Tim Walz have spent the past week rallying in swing states, including Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, Michigan, Arizona, and Nevada. Their mini-tour seems to have paid off — polls show Vice President Harris ahead of Trump by four points among likely voters in the key swing states of Pennsylvania, Michigan, and Wisconsin! (But remember: Polls aren’t everything and we still need to make sure we VOTE and encourage others to do the same!)
Harris and Walz drew huge crowds at each of their rallies — in Las Vegas, people waited outside in 109 degrees to see the dynamic duo! The crowd size was certainly a sore point for a certain man who can’t seem to stop talking shit. He (falsely) accused the Harris campaign of using AI to increase the Detroit rally crowd size in photos and also claimed that there were more people present at his Stop the Steal rally on Jan. 6, 2021 than at MLK’s “I Have a Dream” speech.
You Look Like Taylor Swift: And the most Swift-coded moment of the campaign this week goes to … Tim Walz stopping his own speech to make sure everyone was healthy and hydrated! Thank you Gov. Walz for leading by example and reminding us to care for our neighbors.
Ever since the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade in June 2022, reproductive rights such as abortion access, access to clinics, and even fertility treatments such as IVF have been under fire. Here’s what’s under attack in the Project 2025 document so you can be prepared to vote and protect these rights in November:
A direct quote from Project 2025 says, “Because liberal states have now become sanctuaries for abortion tourism, HHS should use every available tool, including the cutting of funds, to ensure that every state reports exactly how many abortions take place within its borders, at what gestational age of the child, for what reason, the mother’s state of residence, and by what method.” (pg. 455). It’s easy to see why this is a terrifying suggestion, especially since the need to travel for abortion care has doubled in recent years.
Refer to Project 2025 under “Department of Health and Human Services” (pg. 449) to learn more about their threatening proposals.
We’re one week into the official Harris-Walz era and we’re absolutely loving Tim Walz’s dad joke, joyful coach energy.
Some of his biggest accomplishments as governor include:
Codifying abortion rights into Minnesota state law in January 2023 and being a vocal advocate for IVF while sharing his family’s personal story
Legalizing recreational marijuana for adults in May 2023 and pushing for the expungement or resentencing of cannabis crimes
Supporting stricter gun control and signing a bill in May 2023 that includes universal background checks and a red-flag law (and despite a former “A” rating from the NRA, in 2017 he donated every penny he had ever received from them to charity, then made a huge pivot and co-sponsored legislation for an assault weapons ban in Congress after the Parkland high school mass shooting)
Signing a bill that provides free school meals for all children
Banning police chokeholds and neck restraints, along with warrior-style training for officers, through the Minnesota Police Accountability Act
Long live the Walz we’ll crash through — we’re having the time of our lives fighting dragons for Harris-Walz with all of you!
Nevada and New Mexico residents, will you please stand!
According to the Cook Political Report’s Senate and House Race Ratings, both states have one Congressional seat at risk of flipping red this election season.

Come one, come all, our Swifties for Kamala call is just 13 days away! Join us on Tuesday, Aug. 27 at 7 pm ET to kick off the organizing efforts of our coalition committed to elect Vice President Kamala Harris as our next president. We will have some special guest speakers (not Taylor herself at the moment, but she’s always welcome to show up at our party!) and information on how to directly get involved with volunteering for the Harris-Walz campaign!
August might be slipping away, but there are a few more primaries left this month! If you live in Florida!!!, Alaska, or Wyoming, get in the car and head to the polls on Aug. 20. Don’t forget to check on your state’s primary date and see who’s on your ballot no matter where you live!
Don’t forget that the extreme creep JD Vance wants to track women’s menstrual cycles and tax women who do not have children. Completely dystopian and right of Margaret Atwood’s “The Handmaids Tale”.
I am totally not crafty but would wholly love to see someone make hats etc that say “Make America Dazzling” for the campaign. I feel like it would be a great way to push against the “Make America Great Again” narrative and phrase. And hey, the acronym is MAD. Gotta love me a MAD woman.
